چکیده
Abstract Aim Plasma low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is a unit measure of mass & an estimate circulating LDL-C. LDL-C commonly calculated indirectly by Friedewald equation and not directly with enzymatic method. The underestimates the LDLC compared to direct particularly in patients high Triglycerides (TGL). Recently developed Sampson (2020) also estimates but less dependent on TGL values. present study compares measured above friedewald sampsons equations. Methodology A Multicentric (three health centers) method 8332 samples. data was collected using electronic database computed Microsoft excel. Retrospective analysis performed after ethical committee approval waiver consent. values derived from Subgroup for accuracy done among various subgroups such as than 50 mg/dl, 50–70 70–150 mg/dl more 150 mg/dl. entire cohort subdivided into triglyceride <150 150–450 >450 Results Our results shows that mean 85.7mg/dl, were 80mg/dl 76mg/dl respectively. There statistical significance difference when combined per Games - Howell multiple comparison which Friedewal's equation. overall concordance upwards between Friedewald's versus similar (81% 83% respectively). discordance (4%), unlike 1.5% downwards Sampson's (12%) unlike, 16% showed accurate But had close proximity magnitude noted Conclusions better friedewald's estimation ideal, better, easily incorporated. We have simple android application both recommend sampson's can be utilized third world developing countries planning targets during secondary prevention. متن کاملMeasuring Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol: Comparison of Direct Measurement by HiSens Reagents and Friedewald Estimation
BACKGROUND Directly measured low density lipoprotein cholesterol (DLDLC) has been reported to be more accurate than calculated low density lipoprotein cholesterol (CLDLC) using the Friedewald equation. However, some limitations of DLDLC have been reported. In this study, we evaluated differences between CLDLC and DLDLC measured using HiSens reagents. METHODS Data were collected from 582 perso...
متن کاملEffect of serum lipoprotein(a) on estimation of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol by the Friedewald formula.
The calculation of serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) by the Friedewald formula does not account for the cholesterol associated with lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)]. To quantify the contribution of Lp(a) cholesterol to total serum cholesterol, we measured concentrations of serum Lp(a) by an ELISA and concentrations of other serum lipids and lipoproteins by standard assays in 23 normolipem...
متن کاملLimitations of the Friedewald formula for estimating low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in alcoholics with liver disease.
The accuracy of the Friedewald formula in estimating low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol was investigated in 47 alcoholic patients with liver disease (21 minimal-change, 26 cirrhotic) by comparing the results with those obtained by sequential preparative ultracentrifugation. In 14% of subjects with minimal-change disease, the error in the estimated LDL cholesterol was 50% +/- 9% (mean +/-...
متن کاملComparison of a novel method vs the Friedewald equation for estimating low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels from the standard lipid profile.
IMPORTANCE In clinical and research settings worldwide, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is typically estimated using the Friedewald equation. This equation assumes a fixed factor of 5 for the ratio of triglycerides to very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG:VLDL-C); however, the actual TG:VLDL-C ratio varies significantly across the range of triglyceride and cholesterol levels....
